Philosophy of Education
I believe that when it comes to learning about what art is and how to apply one’s thoughts to help students create something interesting, appealing, and the time it takes to create a piece of art, there is no better place than a classroom environment. And adolescents being around a group of others trying to achieve and strive towards one main goal, being enhanced by all the information and knowledge a teacher provides, is vitally important. The best part about teaching is taking all that I have learned so far in my life and sharing it with the students that I spend time with throughout the year. It is the retention of the information that will get them through their educational career.
Whether it may be explaining how color and shape strive to become one or how line, perspective, shadow, and light create the foundry of art. And getting to draw, paint, or design, is all part of the learning environment of an art classroom. Cutting a piece of paper is just as important as what someone writes on it. Arranging a collage enhancing thoughts of composition is just as important as composing a piece of music. The ideas and subject might be different, but the use of the brain becomes the same in the thinking and performance process. To see students’ facial emotions, draws my interest of what they are learning. It builds my confidence as a teacher to find more ideas for creation, to help the students explore their talents. Hopefully the information that I teach them keeps them creating amazing new work that inspires others for years that are ahead of them. |
